I have the latest Apple Lion OSX and the program will not launch. What do I do?

The latest OSX 10.7 does not come with Java preinstalled. Please download the Java plugin from the following Apple support site http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1421 and relaunch the application. |

What is the different between a hardcover and a personalized hardcover?

A hard cover album is made of linen, leather or leatherette and can have words stamped into the cover, called debossing. A personalized hardcover allows you to print an image and have it wrap around the entire cover. |

What kind of paper is used in Photobooks?
~ OPEN ~
All Photobooks are available in 170GSM and 206GSM Matte or Glossy acid-free paper. It is the same paper that is used for fine art photo books printed on a traditional offset press. Premium Flat paper is only available in 12x12" 300 GSM and 11x14” Portrait 270GSM sizes. Paper selection is done in the shopping cart stage for non-Premium Flat photobooks. |

When will my order be ready?

Production time for photobook orders is 5-7 business days. If you have a larger order (10+ books) please allow for 7-10 days of production, depending on project details. Production time does not include shipping. We also offer a RUSH service of 3 business days. Please email press@pikto.com to check on availability. |

Can I add text to the spine of my photobook?

For Personalized Hardcover books, you can design text to be printed along the spine of your album. For Hardcover albums, we cannot deboss along the spine of a photobook. For Softcover books, text along the spine is not recommended because the width of the spine on the soft cover can be very and text will most likely overlap onto the front and back cover. |

What size do my files have to be?

A minimum of 200DPI is recommended for best results. Images that are 100-200DPI will print reasonably well but not excellent. |

Do I need to resize the image (if they are larger then 300DPI)?
~ OPEN ~
No. The software will resize the images to fit 300DPI before creating the PDF file and sending to print. |

How do I change the colour of the cover material?
~ OPEN ~
For Hardcover books, you can change your cover material of Linen, Leatherette or Leather in the shopping cart. This is done once you have sent your album to us through the Book:It software. Thumbnails of each material are shown in the shopping cart to help you with your selection. |

What is Vellum? Do I need to have it?

Vellum is a slightly translucent sheet of paper that is often used for esthetic purposes can be used as an end page. You don’t need to have it, it is purely for esthetic or design (if you print on it) purposes. |

Can I print something on Vellum?
~ OPEN ~
Yes! Add a page at the beginning of the book and place the image/text for the front vellum in page 1 and the back vellum in page 2. If you do no want anything printed on the back sheet of vellum, leave page 2 blank, or vise versa for the first page of your book. Important: Select the option for printing on vellum in the checkout section and remember that the first non-vellum page of the book is now page 3. |

Can I show my client a PDF before ordering?

Yes. Once you create the PDF and reach the approval page, you can preview the PDF and save it locally. It will be embedded with a "Proof" watermark. MAC users need to have Adobe Acrobat installed as default PDF viewer to be able to save the files. |

Can I use Photoshop to set up my files?

Photoshop templates are available for covers, spreads and single pages for each size of book. Simply create your pages in these files following the instructions available online and incorporate into the Book:It application. |

Should I assign or convert to the ICC profile that you provide?
~ OPEN ~
NO. Colour conversion takes place in the printing stage. All images should be in sRGB or Gray Gamma 2.2 color profiles only. |

How are the photobooks calendar/cards printed?

We print calendars and cards on a state of the art digital press with 1200 dpi printing resolution. Calendars are printed on 206GSM Matte and cards are printed on 300GSM Glossy stock. |

My Photobook uploaded but my shopping cart did not come up...what happened?
~ OPEN ~
Sometimes security programs will block the opening of the shopping cart for you to complete your payment. There are two solutions to this problem. If you know the program causing the problem you can disable it for a short period of time. If not please note the time of your upload and a Job ID (ie. Photobook_XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX), if one was provided for you. Email us to press@pikto.com (or Contact us at 866-54PIKTO toll free) with this info (Job ID and time) and we will help you complete your order. |

Do you ship internationally?

We ship all over the globe via UPS. This typically takes 2-5 days, is traceable and delivered to the customers address. The shipping charge will be calculated automatically. |

Can I add text in any language?
~ OPEN ~
Yes, you can use any language or font on your system, the software will create a PDF before sending the file to print and embed all font info into the PDF. |
