Pikto is proud to present Pikto’s Top Pick, a competition dedicated to the very best in photography today.

One Pikto's Top Pick winner will be awarded $5,000 good towards producing a Gallery Show, an Opening Reception and a two month exhibit at one of Toronto’s hottest venues, the Pikto Gallery at the Distillery District.

The total Prize worth $5,000.

A gallery show is a great way to showcase your work, build a name, launch or nurture a career in photography. Pikto's Top Pick competition is an opportunity to have a serious exhibit in a recognized gallery at no cost and with the expert help and advice of a seasoned Curator.

At Pikto we are passionate about showcasing talented artists in the photography world, from conceptual photography to photojournalism. The selection process is in-depth and very competitive. It is important that the images represent and invoke a thought, intelligent viewpoint, theme, feeling, and demonstrate technical ability.

We want to see that the artist understands the subject matter and connects with it.

Within “Toronto’s new centre for Arts, Culture and Entertainment” in The Distillery District, Pikto’s Gallery offers a space dedicated to photography.

The Gallery has featured internationally renowned and emerging photographers which include, Martin Parr, Yousuf Karsh, Donald Weber, Eamon Mac Mahon and Sally Gall.

See competition rules and submit your series of images along with artist statement to uploads, by October 1st 2010.

One winner will be announced on October 31st, 2010.

The Pikto’s Top Pick Winner Exhibition dates are scheduled December 1st, 2010 – January 31, 2011
